Son of Godzilla 1967 (DVD)

The second in the island trilogy, SON OF GODZILLA opens with a group of scientists on a deserted island performing weather experiments; they soon discover that nuclear activity has mutated insects on the island into huge preying mantises. They courageously continue with their experiment until a horrible accident cause a radioactive storm, mutating the insects further, uncovering a giant egg, and summoning Godzilla. The egg hatches into a young monster that Godzilla takes under his wing, training it in the ways of proper monsterhood while battling the giant insects.
